ABOUT THE ARTIST
Working with real estate educated as an economist, Rune Furelid completely changed direction after a dramatic motorcycle accident which nearly ended his life. Two years in a wheelchair learning to walk again, Rune started painting in 2014 and by the spring of 2015 he became a student of Odd Nerdrum, the classical figurative masterpainter.
He quickly gained attention in local and national media, with his work that combine both classical and modern techniques, resulting in popular colourful paintings that usually sell out quickly to customers all over Norway and abroad. He is represented in Spain, Singapore, Sweden, Denmark, Australia, USA and Italy through private collections.
Today he has his own gallery and painting studio on the west coast of Norway, Ålesund. You can visit him and even sometimes watch him paint during opening hours in the gallery.
