About Rune Furelid
Working with real estate educated as an economist, Rune Furelid completely changed direction and started painting after a dramatic motorcycle accident which nearly ended his life. Two years in wheelchair and after learning to walk again, Rune started painting in 2014 and by the spring of 2015 he became a student of the classical masterpainter Odd Nerdrum. He quickly gained attention in local an national media, with his work that combine classical and modern techniques, resulting in popular colourful paintings that usually sell out quickly to customers all over Norway and abroad. He is represented in private collections in Spain, Singapore, Sweeden, Denmark, Australia, USA and Italy.
Now he has his own gallery and painting studio on the west coast of Norway, in Ålesund. You can visit him and see his work there, and even sometimes sit at watch while he´s working, something he likes to do during opening hours in the gallery. Usually saturdays between 12.00 and 15.00.
